About The department
The Department of Botany, Dinhata College was established in the year 2007 due to acute need of students interested in biological science. From 2007 to 2014 subject of Botany was taught as a part of B.Sc. (bio Science) course under the University of North Bengal. Botany as a full full-fledged subject was introduced from the academic year 2015 when the college got new affiliation to the Cooch-Behar Panchanan Barma University with maximum intact capacity of10 students which was gradually increased to 61 from the year 2022. Till it had CBCS curriculum from session 2023 Botany was introduced as major subject under NCCF(NEP 2020).

- Cooch Behar more specifically has an agrarian economy, therefore most of the students from rural background, if wanted to study nature and agriculture they turn to this department to study botany.
- The Honours course of Department of Botany started in 2015 has yearly escalated the number of students except the COVID-19 pandemic.
- The department has a very homely atmosphere and student teacher ratio and relation are very congenial.
- The department has moderately equipped laboratory to study botany and also field study is conducted every year to substantiate the holistic study of botany.
- By studying in this department students can further for their higher studies like Post graduation, Teachers Training and also sit for other competitive examinations.
Practical Examinations
Department Conducted Program and Hons. Practical examination regularly and after (since 2016) introduction of NCCF(NEP 2020), The Department has been conducting centre of UG Botany (Major) Practical for all three affiliating university.
Infrastructure
The department has three rooms dedicated for laboratory of 27/20 feet.
