Year of Establishment: Pass Course – 2010, Honours Course – 2023
About The department
When Dinhata College was established. At that time Honors and Programom courses of
various subjects were opened in the college but no course of Sanskrit subjects was opened.
Students who are interested in Sanskrit subjects had to go to other colleges to study Sanskrit
subjects, so in 2010 Sanskrit department was established in this college.

Why Study this departments?
By studying in this department, students will gain knowledge of Sanskrit. All the literatures
written in Sanskrit will gain knowledge about those literatures. Along with that they will acquire proficiency in Sanskrit language. Further, students can write as well as can speak in Sanskrit which will help them to get job in various school, college and different News Channel.
SWOC Analysis Of The Department And Future Plans
Strength: The department has dedicated faculties.
Weakness: Permanent teaching faculty and shorting of classrooms.
Opportunities: Students passing with Sanskrit Honours go for higher studies in different Universities and Institutes all over India. Few students also join School Service, PSC, SSC and other services.
Challenges: Inflexible syllabus prescribed by the university we are trying our level best in order to enrich our students by discussing the frontiers areas of research in invited talks and internal seminars.
Future Plan:
- Organising Seminars/Workshops for the enrichment of the Department.
- Increase the number of permanent faculty member.

The department organizes invited talks as part of the enrichment program as well as motivates the students for publishing wall magazines and seminar. Parents Teachers meeting has also been arranged at regular interval.
